PREPARATION:
- Valid passport or Residence Card
- Compatible devices: International edition smartphones, unlocked carrier phones. Or a Docomo's sim-lock version smartphone (which only Docomo sims can use)
NOTE: If your device is AU or Softbank locked, you must unlock it or upgrade it to the international version. Please go to the carrier's stores to have your phone unlocked/upgraded to the international version in order to use our SIM. Please note that JP SMART SIM does not support dual SIM (using 2 sims on 1 device).
HOW TO APPLY:
STEP 1.1: SELECT SIM PLAN
- Go to our Home Page JP SMART DATA
- Then click the APPLY NOW button to access the Application Form
- After clicking, the screen will be redirected to the online application form below.
- In this section, please choose the right sim plan suitable for your need.
- The plan has only Data + SMS, which means you can use fast 4G Internet + send or receive SMS but cannot make or receive calls.
STEP 1.2: SELECT PICK-UP LOCATION
If you apply from within Japan, select "shipping in Japan".
STEP 1.3: ACCOUNT REGISTRATION FOR MY PAGE
Next, please input a valid email address and create a password for the JP SMART SIM user account.
NOTE: The input email address will become your user ID, so you need to enter a valid e-mail address to receive important contract information and billing details, as well as to change registered personal information if necessary while using the service. It is not possible to use the same email address twice.
- After you complete the required 2 fields, please click the red box [I agree with the above and register my account] to proceed to Step 2
STEP 2: INPUT REGISTRATION DETAILS
- At this step, please input the personal information required to form the contract.
- In the last field [Passport Number], you can enter [Residence Card Number] (在留カード番号) if the verification document you provide to register is Residence Card (this number includes 12 characters. printed in the top right corner at the front of the card).
STEP 3: REGISTER YOUR SHIPPING ADDRESS
- Select [Input your address] and input the required information according to the submitted identity verification document。

- If you do not know the postal number, you can use the Google Map tool to look up the postal number from the address as shown below.
- Input the address in the search box, after clicking on the "magnifying glass" symbol the results will be displayed in the information box below. Postage numbers are 7 digits, separated by a hyphen.
NOTE: The registered address needs to be entered accurately and in detail. This will be the address to which we send the SIM, so we cannot be held responsible if the SIM is lost due to an address change or input mistake. We recommend that you upload a document registered with your address or enter it in Japanese.
STEP 4: UPLOAD THE IDENTITY VERIFICATION DOCUMENTS
- For photos of identity verification documents, you can choose to upload your photo of『Passport』 first-page or front side of『Residence Card』 by clicking on the [Choose File] box.

NOTE: Uploaded『Passport』photo is required to be the front page, containing your information and portrait (not your visa page).
※050 Voice Call Plan requires a residence card (Valid for more than 30 days, current address registered).
STEP 5: SELECT PAYMENT METHOD

・MMK installation stores (Click here for eligible MMK installation stores) - Payment by manual bank transfer via cash card is not available.
- If you choose 『Direct Debit』, you need to register your bank account after completing the order and the initial payment.

- When entering your credit card information for the name of the cardholder, all letters have to be CAPITALIZED, and please delete the space between your first and middle names.
- e.g., Your full name is BENARD ALEXANDER LEE. Please delete the space and input like the following:

- Phone number: Please input a valid number (The international number is acceptable with the country code)
- Security code (3-4 digit number)
- Visa, JCB, MasterCard: 3 numbers in the back.
American Express: 4 numbers in the front.
・If you still cannot complete your payment with your credit card, please consider changing to other payment methods such as Convenience Store payment, which you can easily pay at convenience stores with cash.
STEP 6: CONFIRM CUSTOMER INFORMATION
- Please check to see whether all the information you provided is correct.

- At this step, you can also confirm the initial payment.
*The basic plan fees for the first month are free according to the promotion.

- After confirming that all information is correct, please scroll down to the bottom of the page and read the [Important Notice before Usage] and [Contract details] carefully until the end.
All important information regarding monthly fee calculation, internet connection, contract termination, etc. is clearly stated on this page. Please understand and agree to our terms of service before applying.
- Check the [I agree with this contract] box then click on the [Apply] button to complete the online contract setting using the JP SMART SIM service.
STEP 7 : IF PAYING INITIAL FEE VIA 『Convenience Store (Mypayment)』
- After completing the six steps of the online application, you will receive an email notification confirming initial registration information and will be redirected to the MYPAGE screen (for JP SMART SIM users) as below.
- On this page, please confirm your Payment Details, Due date, and Payment barcode.
Tap [Show barcode] to display the payment code. Show it at a convenience store register to pay in cash.
※ Barcode works only on smartphones.
※ Valid for 24 hours. If expired, tap [Update barcode] and follow the same steps to pay.

CONFIRM YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION AND PROCEED WITH DELIVERY:
- Once the initial fee has been paid, the ID photos uploaded, and the valid shipping address registered during the online application has been verified, the SIM package will be delivered by Yamato Transport within two days at the earliest. You can start using it right away by completing the simple settings written in the start guidebook!
