6. How can I apply for JP SMART DATA sim card?

PREPARATION:

• passport or residence card (在留カード) (Valid for more than 30 days)
  ※Residence card is required for the 050 voice call plan.
• Compatible devices: International edition smartphones, unlocked carrier phones. Or a Docomo's sim-lock version smartphone (which only Docomo sims can use)
  
  NOTE: If your device is AU or Softbank locked, you must unlock it or upgrade it to the international version. Please go to the carrier's stores to have your phone unlocked/upgraded to the international version in order to use our SIM. Please note that JP SMART SIM does not support dual SIM (using 2 sims on 1 device).

HOW TO APPLY:

STEP 1.1: SELECT SIM PLAN

• Go to our Home Page JP SMART DATA
• Then click the APPLY NOW button to access the Application Form
  
  
  
• After clicking, the screen will be redirected to the online application form below.

• In this section, please choose the right sim plan suitable for your needs.
  
  1.  [Data + SMS] allows you to use high-speed 4G internet and send and receive SMS, but cannot make or receive calls.
  2.  [Data + SMS + Voice call (050 phone number)] not only allows high-speed 4G internet and sending and receiving SMS but also allows you to make and receive calls via the app.

If you choose the [ Data + SMS + Voice call (050 phone number) ] plan:

You can make both domestic and international calls at the lowest rates using the 050 IP phone via the Cloud Softphone app. However, an Internet connection is required to make and receive calls via this app.

→ Your SIM will have 2 separate mobile numbers: one SMS number starts with 070/080/090, and one Call number starts with 050 (need to install Cloud Softphone app)

STEP 1.2: SELECT PICK-UP LOCATION

If you apply from within Japan, select "shipping in Japan".

STEP 1.3: ACCOUNT REGISTRATION FOR MY PAGE 

• Next, please input a valid email address and create a password for the JP SMART SIM user account.
  
  NOTE: The input email address will become your user ID, so you need to enter a valid e-mail address to receive important contract information and billing details, as well as to change registered personal information if necessary while using the service. It is not possible to use the same email address twice.
  
  
• After you complete the required 2 fields, please click the red box [I agree with the above and register my account] to proceed to Step 2

STEP 2: INPUT REGISTRATION DETAILS

• At this step, please input the personal information required to form the contract.
• In the last field [Passport Number], you can enter [Residence Card Number] (在留カード番号) if the verification document you provide to register is Residence Card (this number includes 12 characters. printed in the top right corner at the front of the card).

STEP 3: REGISTER YOUR SHIPPING ADDRESS

• Select [Input your address] and input the required information according to the submitted identity verification document。

• If you do not know the postal number, you can use the Google Map tool to look up the postal number from the address as shown below.

• Input the address in the search box, after clicking on the "magnifying glass" symbol the results will be displayed in the information box below. Postage numbers are 7 digits, separated by a hyphen.
  
  NOTE: The registered address needs to be entered accurately and in detail. This will be the address to which we send the SIM, so we cannot be held responsible if the SIM is lost due to an address change or input mistake. We recommend that you upload a document registered with your address or enter it in Japanese.

STEP 4: UPLOAD THE IDENTITY VERIFICATION DOCUMENTS

• For photos of identity verification documents, you can choose to upload your photo of『Passport』 first-page or front side of『Residence Card』 by clicking on the [Choose File] box.
• NOTE: Uploaded『Passport』photo is required to be the front page, containing your information and portrait (not your visa page).
  ※050 Voice Call Plan requires a residence card (Valid for more than 30 days, current address registered).

STEP 5: SELECT PAYMENT METHOD

• Recommended Payment Method：『Convenience Store Payment』
  • Reasons:
    • Many of us do not have a credit card or bank account.
    • Convenient stores are available everywhere in Japan.
    • It is cash-based so you will be able to manage personal finance better.
• After completing the online application form, you can make the initial payment transaction at Family Mart, Lawson, and Ministop nationwide 24-hour convenience stores with a special payment code called: "Smart Pit Number" 
  (Currently, payment at 7-Eleven is not supported yet. Please notice.)
• If you choose 『Direct Debit』, you need to register your bank account after completing the order and the initial payment.

NOTE:

・Payment by manual bank transfer via cash card is not available.

・If you choose 『Direct Debit』, you need to register your bank account after completing the order and the initial payment via COD.

・If you choose to pay with 『Credit Card ・ Debit Card』 please note:

• • When entering your credit card information for the name of the cardholder, all letters have to be CAPITALIZED, and please delete the space between your first and middle names.

  • e.g., Your full name is BENARD ALEXANDER LEE. Please delete the space and input like the following:

    • Last Name: LEE

    • First Name: BENARDALEXANDER

    • Phone number: Please input a valid number (The international number is acceptable with the country code)

    • Security code (3-4 digit number)

      • Visa, JCB, MasterCard: 3 numbers in the back.

American Express: 4 numbers in the front.

・If you still cannot complete your payment with your credit card, please consider changing to other payment methods such as Convenience Store payment, which you can easily pay at convenience stores with cash.

STEP 6: CONFIRM CUSTOMER INFORMATION

• Please check to see whether all the information you provided is correct.
  If not, CLICK on this item to edit properly.
  • [Return to Enter Information]
  • [Return to Plan Selection]
  • [Return to Select Where You Want To Receive]
  • [Return to Payment Method Selection]

At this step, you can also confirm the initial payment.

*The basic plan fees for the first month are free according to the promotion.
・Administration fee (required one-time-only upon application): 3,300 yen ( tax included)

・Monthly basic plan fee for the following month after activation

・After confirming that all information is correct, please scroll down to the bottom of the page and read the [Important Notice before Usage] and [Contract details] carefully until the end. All important information regarding monthly fee calculation, internet connection, contract termination, etc. is clearly stated on this page. Please understand and agree to our terms of service before applying.

・Check the [I agree with this contract] box then click on the [Apply] button to complete the online contract setting using the JP SMART SIM service.

STEP 7: CONFIRM YOUR SMART PIT NUMBER AND PROCEED TO THE INITIAL PAYMENT

• After completing the six steps of the online application, you will receive an email notification confirming initial registration information and will be redirected to the MYPAGE screen (for JP SMART SIM users) as below.
  
• On this page, please confirm your Payment Details, Due date, and Smart Pit No.

1. Please take a screenshot or note this number.
2. Once you have noted the Smart Pit number, click on the box [DETAIL OF PAYMENT METHOD] to be directed to the Payment Method at the JP SMART SIM official website.
3. If you have not paid by the due date, the invoice will be expired and the Smart Pit Number cannot be found anymore. In this case, please inbox for JP SMART SIM Fanpage for support.

   Scroll down and follow the instructions on how to pay using your Smart Pit number to complete the initial payment for JP Smart SIM.

CONFIRM YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION AND PROCEED WITH DELIVERY:

• Once the initial fee has been paid, the ID photos uploaded, and the valid shipping address registered during the online application has been verified, the SIM package will be delivered by Yamato Transport within two days at the earliest. You can start using it right away by completing the simple settings written in the start guidebook!
