[Japan Prepaid eSIM] KDDI 5G Unlimited Line Setup Guide

Please note:
*This product is eSIM, not physical SIM card.
*Internet connection is required to download, install and set up eSIM. Please make sure you have internet connection in advance.
*The screenshots and display texts in the instructions may differ depending on the device and operating system.

Steps for Using the Service

1. Create an Account
2. Issue an Activation Code
3. Install eSIM and Setup APN

For customers who have completed step 1. Create an Account and step 2. Issue an Activation Code,
please use the above link to proceed to step 3. Install eSIM and Setup APN based on your device type.

1. Create an Account

1-1. Scan the QR code provided in the eSIM package to access the【JP SMART SIM】dedicated page.	1-2. If you already have an account, log in with your registered email address and password.	1-3. If you do not have an account, press the【Sign up】 button, enter your information, then click【Sign up】 to create a new account.

Once an activation code is issued, the eSIM will be activated and the validity period of your plan will begin counting down.
Please make sure to complete the steps below on the date you wish to start using the service.

2. Issue an Activation Code

2-1. Check the important notices before issuing the activation code.	2-2. Confirm the code issuence request.

2-3. Once the issuance is complete, the activation code will be displayed on the page. ※The activation code will also be sent to your registered email address.

Note:
After issuing the activation code, please make sure to install the eSIM on your device within 24 hours.
If more than 24 hours pass after the activation code is issued, the eSIM may no longer be usable.
Please complete the following steps on the day you wish to begin using the eSIM.

3.1 Install eSIM and Setup APN (iOS)

After the activation code has been issued, install the eSIM and complete the APN setting on your device by following the instructions below.

<Install the eSIM>

3.1-1.　Connect to the internet then tap【Settings】on the home screen→【Cellular】.
3.1-2.　Tap【Add eSIM】
3.1-3.　Set up by scanning the activation QR code or entering the activation code manually.

・ Set up by scanning the activation QR code
3.1-4.　Scan the activation QR code. (You can print the activation QR code on paper or use another device to display it)

・ Set up by entering the activation code manually
3.1-4.　When the screen changes, select【Use QR code】.→ After the camera opens up, tap【Enter details manually】 and enter the <SM-DP+ address> and <Activation code>.

3.1-5.　Tap "Activate eSIM" →【Continue】→【Mobile settings complete】 →【Done】
3.1-6.　Select the default SIM for each function on your device according to your preference.
3.1-7. Finally, go to 【Settings】 → 【Mobile Data】, select the registered eSIM, and turn 【Data Roaming】ON to complete the setup.

<APN Settings>

On iOS devices, APN setting is usually not required. Please restart your smartphone and start using it.

3.2 Install eSIM and Setup APN (Android)

After the activation code has been issued, install the eSIM and complete the APN setting on your device by following the instructions below.

<Install the eSIM>
3.2-1.　Home screen → Tap【Settings】→【SIM card & mobile data】or 【Network and Internet】.
3.2-2.　Tap Mobile Network.
3.2-3.　Tap 【Download SIM?】 → 【Next】.
3.2-4.　Set up by scanning the QR code or entering the activation code manually.

・ Set up by scanning the activation QR code
3.2-5.　After the camera opens up, scan the activation QR code (You can print the activation QR code on paper or use another device to display it).

・ Set up by entering the activation code
3.2-5.　Tap【Enter It Manually】. Depending on the device, it may be【Help】→【Enter It Manually】at the bottom left.

3.2-6.　Tap 【Activate】or【Download】to start installing the eSIM.
3.2-7.　Click【Done】.
3.2-8.　Turn on【Use SIM】.
3.2-9.　Finally, go to【Mobile Network】, select the registered eSIM, and turn【Data Roaming】ON to complete the setup.

＜ APN settings＞

For some Android devices, the APN settings for eSIM may not be automatically installed. If this applies to your device, please set the APN manually.

3.2-10.　From the home screen, tap【Settings】→【SIM Card & Mobile Data】or【Network & Internet】.
3.2-11.　Tap Mobile Network.
3.2-12.　Click【Access point names】and when the APN screen appears, click【+】on the upper right.
3.2-13.　Enter the following APN information in the appropriate fields and click【Save】in the upper right corner when finished.（Leave any fields not specified blank）

3.2-14.　Make sure the saved APN is selected.
3.2-15.　After the APN settings are complete, restart your device.

The setup is complete. Enjoy the internet!

※1. If you are unable to use the service even after following the steps above, please turn on【Data Roaming】.
※2. If you are unable to install the eSIM, please restart your smartphone (turn it off and then on) and scan the activation QR code again or enter the activation code manually.
※3. After installing the eSIM on iOS devices, you can usually connect to the internet without setting up an APN configuration profile manually.
For some Android devices, the APN settings for eSIM may not be automatically installed. If this applies to your device, please set the APN manually.
